Giants Haven’t Closed The Door On RB Brandon Jacobs

According to the New York Post, the Giants haven’t ruled out the possibility of re-signing RB Brandon Jacobs.

The report adds that they have yet to be any formal discussions between the Giants and Jacobs’ reps.

“He’d love to return to New York, obviously,’’ the source said.

Overall, the free agent market for veteran running backs has been terrible, so it’s not as though the Giants would have to aggressively pursue him now. They could wait until after the draft before deciding whether or not bring him back.

Jacobs, 30, was released by the Giants last offseason and wound up signing with the 49ers. His time with San Francisco was forgettable to say the least. He played in just two games last season and had only five carries for seven yards. Since being release by San Francisco, Jacobs has maintained that the only team he would consider playing for is the Giants, so I guess we’ll have to see if they’re in the market for another running back following the draft.
