Giants Interviewing Eagles DC Jim Schwartz Next Week

According to Adam Schefter, the Giants are expected to interview Eagles DC Jim Schwartz for their head coach position next week while Philadelphia is on bye.

Schefter says that Schwartz is expected to be a “favorite — if not the favorite” for the Giants’ job.

Multiple reports have mentioned Schwartz as a serious candidate to watch for the Giants’ position, given that he has prior head-coaching experience and has ties consultant Ernie Accorsi.

Other names to keep an eye on for the Giants’ job, according to Ian Rapoport, include Patriots OC Josh McDaniels, Vikings OC Pat Shurmur, Giants interim HC Steve Spagnuolo, Panthers DC Steve Wilks and Texans HC Bill O’Brien.

Schwartz, 51, spent eight years as the Titans’ defensive coordinator before he was hired as the Lions’ head coach in 2009. Hep spent five years as the Lions’ head coach before he was fired after the 2013 season.

Schwartz spent a year with the Bills and eventually joined the Eagles as their defensive coordinator in 2016.

During his five years with the Lions, Schwartz led them to a record of 29-51 (36.3 percent) including one playoff appearance.

We’ll have more regarding the Giants’ head-coaching search as the news is available.
