Giants K Josh Brown Suspended One Game For Domestic Violence Charge

James Kratch of NJ.com reports that Giants K Josh Brown was arrested on a domestic violence charge back in May of last year, and is the reason for his one-game suspension from the NFL.

According to a police report obtained by Kratch, Brown was arrested on a fourth-degree domestic violence charge, which is a misdemeanor. Brown was booked and later released on $2,000 bond.

Brown reportedly grabbed the victim’s wrist while the victim was picking up a phone. The victim was able call 911, but had “redness” on the wrist, “and a small cut, possibly from a fingernail.”

The NFL announced that Giants K Josh Brown has been suspended for one game for violating the NFL Personal Conduct Policy.

  • According to Adam Caplan, Brown loses $72,058 in salary and $15,625 in per-game roster bonuses, which comes out to $87,683.

Here is a statement from Brown regarding the suspension:

While I do not agree with the suspension, I will accept itI have exhausted the appeals process and have no other options along those lines. I will continue to work hard for this team, and I have tremendous confidence in my teammates and in my ability to move on and contribute to the team.”

Giants HC Ben McAdoo released a brief statement of his own supporting Brown:

“We have been supportive of Josh and will continue to be, but we accept the league’s decision.

Brown, 37, is in the first year of his new two-year, $4 million contract that included $1 million guaranteed. He stands to make a bases salary of $1.225 million for the 2016 season.

Last year, Brown appeared in all 16 games for the Giants and converted 30 of 32 field goal attempts (93.8 percent) including all three from 50 yards or more. He also made 44 of 45 extra point tries (97.8 percent) and had 47 touchbacks.
