Giants & LB Jon Beason Have Had “Preliminary Talks” Regarding An Extension

Giants LB Jon Beason mentioned that his agent has had “preliminary talks” with the team regarding a contract.

“I know it’s something that we both want to get done,” Beason said, via the New York Daily News. “We’ve expressed interest that they want me back and I told them that we want to be back. The thing about it is, it’s got to work for both parties. Though you anticipate that it will, you never know.”

Beason, 28, came over from Carolina after a mid-season trade sent him to New York for an undisclosed 2014 late-round pick. He finished the season with 104 tackles and an interception.

Assuming his asking price is reasonable, it seems like there is a chance he could be back with the Giants given that they have an obvious need at middle linebacker.

“So for me right now it’s a waiting game,” Beason said. “It’s early. The season is still going on and a lot of things will happen between now and March 11. So all is well. I’ll be playing ball next year and hopefully I’m a Giant.”
