The New York Giants announced Tuesday that veteran LB Jon Beason won’t require surgery after he suffered a ligament tear and a small fracture to the sesamoid in his right foot.
Beason’s foot will be immobilized for six weeks, which includes three weeks in a walking boot.
“My visit with Dr. Anderson went as well as it could have yesterday,” Beason said. “I’m happy that it was determined that I will be able to recover without surgery. My plan is to work as hard as I can during my rehab so I can be fully recovered around the start of the regular season opener on Monday night in Detroit.”
This is great news for Beason and the Giants as he should have a chance at being ready for the start of the regular season.
Beason, 28, re-signed with the Giants this offseason. He came over from Carolina after a mid-season trade sent him to New York for an undisclosed 2014 late-round pick.
Last year, he finished the season with 104 tackles, an interception and a pass defensed.
