Finding CB Terrell Thomas’s Replacement

Rumors have already begun to link the New York Giants to Asante Samuel following the season-ending injury to CB Terrell Thomas during last nights game against Chicago.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter tweets that “don’t see Eagles entertaining offers of anything less than a 1 or 2 2’s” which basically puts an end to that idea as the Giants would not be willing to send draft picks to their division rival for Samuel.

Schefter instead mentions Kelvin Hayden as one player that Giants may end up considering.

The best one out there is former Colts CB Kelvin Hayden. But he has been on the street since the start of camp so either teams are balking at his injury history or his asking price,” writes Schefter. “Bottom line is, if you’re shopping for a CB at this time of year, you’ve got a problem without an obvious solution.

The New York Giants defense took a hard hit tonight when CB Terrell Thomas was leg whipped by his teammate Jason Pierre-Paul and wound up tearing his ACL.

Last season the Thomas led the Giants in tackles and has proven to be their best defensive back. Considering that the Giants have already lost rookie CB Prince Amukamara and Bruce Johnson (Achilles), they now find themselves in an unfavorable position in regards to their secondary.

Free agent to be Aaron Ross has just seem value and playing time increase.
