Mike Garafolo mentions that only “minor issues” remain between the New York Giants and LT Will Beatty regarding a long-term contract.
“I wouldn’t sweat Will Beatty’s free agency,” tweets Garafolo “Lots of time to resolve what I’m hearing are minor issues.”
Beatty is without a doubt the Giants’ top priority this offseason in terms of their free agent players. Offensive line is an area where they need to shore things up and keeping Beatty would go a long way towards accomplishing this.
New York cleared some much needed cap space by releasing players like Ahmad Bradshaw and Chris Canty. Beatty is one of the best offensive tackles on the market, but thankfully for the Giants, the sheer number of quality players figures to limit the amount of money that they would be able to secure on the open market.
It’s doubtful that they would consider using their franchise tag on him if they’re unable to reach an agreement in the next few weeks.
