Giants May Have A Tough Time Keeping DT Linval Joseph

Dave Hutchinson of the Neward Star-Ledger believes that Giants DT Linval Joseph could command as much as $35-40 million on the open market this offseason.

Losing Joseph could be a huge loss for the Giants defense given that he’s in the prime of his career and clearly their best interior defensive lineman. According to Hutchinson, New York believes that second-year pro Johnathan Hankins can fill the void if Joseph is allowed to walk. Still it would be unwise for the Giants to simply let Joseph test the waters without at least trying to maintain their dominant run stopper and leader of their anchoring defensive line.

Joseph, 25, will be an unrestricted free agent who should be one of most sought after players this March. As things stand right now, the Giants don’t have an overwhelming amount of cap space to work with, but they could easily create more by reworking some contracts like Eli Manning and parting with some over-priced players.

We have Joseph currently listed as the No. 33 player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
