Giants Optimistic That They Could Sign A Few Players Before Free Agency

Giants GM Jerry Reese told reporters on Thursday that he’s optimistic that they could have some of their free agents re-signed before the start of free agency.

“This is going to be a saturated free-agent market again it looks like. We might be able to get a few guys done before the regular free agency starts,” Reese said,” via Jordan Raanan of the Newark Star-Ledger.But we’re still evaluating players and free agents and seeing where our cap situation is going to be. So, we’ll work it out.

New York is in a difficult situation seeing as they have a total of 28 free agents address this offseason.

Raanan lists: K Josh Brown, RB Andre Brown, S Stevie Brown and MLB Jon Beason as some of the most likely players likely to be approached regarding contract extensions.

Veteran DE Justin Tuck is expected to test the free agent market in the coming months, but has scheduled a meeting with the team for earlier February.

According to Overthecap.com, the Giants should have close to $13.2 million in available cap space to work with this offseason, but that’s of course before roster cuts and potential contract restructures.

We have Andre Brown listed as the No. 93 player in our Top 100 Free Agents list.
