Giants Pick Up $3M Of Cap Room By Reworking CB Janoris Jenkins’ Contract

Field Yates of ESPN reports that the Giants picked up $3 million of cap space by restructuring the contract of CB Janoris Jenkins.

According to Yates, the Giants specifically converted $4.5 million of Jenkins’ 2018 base salary into a proratable bonus, which produced the cap savings.

Jenkins, 29 is a former second-round pick of the Rams back in 2012. He spent four years with the Rams before signing a five-year, $62.5 million contract that included $28.8 million guaranteed with the Giants.

Jenkins stands to make base salaries of $10.9 million and $10.15 million over the next two years of the agreement.

In 2017, Jenkins appeared in nine games and recorded 31 tackles, three interceptions with two of them being returned for touchdowns, a forced fumble and nine pass defenses.
