Giants Plan To Waive OT Ereck Flowers If No Trade Surfaces

Adam Schefter reports that the Giants plan to waive OT Ereck Flowers on Monday if no trade surfaces before 4pm EST.

New York made the decision to bench Flowers in favor of Chad Wheeler a few weeks ago, so it’s not surprising that they’re ready to move on from the former first-round pick.

Flowers has been available for trade for some time now, so it would be surprising to see them find a trade partner for him, given that the acquiring team would take on the remainder of his salary.

Flowers, 24, is a former No. 9 overall pick out of Miami by the Giants in the 2015 NFL Draft. He is the final year of a four-year $14.391 million rookie contract that is fully guaranteed is set to earn a base salary of $2,397,522 for 2018.

The Giants declined to pick up Flowers’ fifth-year option back in May.

In 2018, Flowers has appeared in two games for the Giants.
