Giants RB Shane Vereen Out For Season After Re-Injuring Triceps

Giants HC Ben McAdoo announced Monday that RB Shane Vereen reinjured his triceps this past weekend, per Paul Schwartz.

“Shane re-injured his triceps. It’s unfortunate,” McAdoo said of Vereen’s injury. “He worked his tail off to get back to where he was.

The injury is expected to end Vereen’s 2016 season and should lead to him being placed on injured reserve in the coming days.

New York placed Vereen on injured reserve back in September with a triceps injury and just recently designated him as their player to return.

Vereen, 27, signed a three-year, $12.35 million that included $5 million guaranteed with the Giants back in March of last year. He’s stands to make base salaries of $3.15 million over the final two years of the agreement.

In 2016, Vereen has appeared in five games and rushed for 158 yards on 33 carries (4.8 YPC) to go along with 11 receptions for 94 yards receiving and one total touchdown.
