Giants Re-Sign RFA TE Larry Donnell, Medically Cleared

Thew New York Giants announced that they’ve re-signed restricted free agent TE Larry Donnell on Tuesday.

More importantly, Donnell has received medical clearance to resume his NFL career.

The Giants used a low-round tender on Donnell that will run them $1,671,000 for the 2016 season. This designation gave them the right of first refusal on any contract offer he received, but wouldn’t have included any compensation had they elected to not match an offer.

Donnell, 27, wound up signing on with the Giants as an undrafted free agent out of Grambling State back in 2012. His 2015 season ended with him being placed on season-ending injured reserve due to a neck injury.

Last year, Donnell appeared in eight games for the Giants and recorded 29 receptions for 223 yards receiving and two touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 46 tight end out of 77 qualifying players.
