Giants Release Veteran DE Israel Idonije

Pro Football Talk reports that the Giants have released veteran DE Israel Idonije as they begin the process of trimming their roster to 53 players.

The Giants brought Idonije in just a few weeks ago, so it’s really not that surprising to see him among the first roster cuts.

Idonije, 33, actually signed with the Bears back in March, but managed to last just three months with his former team. He spent nine seasons with the Bears before signing a one-year contract with the Lions in 2013.

Last year, Idonije was limited to just 347 snaps in 15 games. Unfortunately, his 2013 season ended after he suffered a neck injury and was placed on injured reserve. He recorded just 11 tackles and a half sack for the Lions.
