The New York Giants began the process of trimming their roster down to 75 players on Monday by releasing veteran LB Victor Butler, according to Ralph Vacchiano.

Butler, 28, signed a future/reserve contract with the Giants back in January, but was later suspended for the first four games of 2015 season for violating the NFL’s policy on performance enhancing substance.

Butler tore his ACL during offseason workouts in 2013, and subsequently missed the entire season.

In 2014, Butler was limited to appearing in two games and recorded just two tackles for the Colts.

We’ll have more roster cuts from the Giants added as the news available.
