Giants Release WR/KR Dwayne Harris

The New York Giants announced Thursday that they’ve released veteran WR/KR Dwayne Harris.

It was clear that Harris was likely going to be released at some point this offseason, especially after the Giants signed WR Cody Latimer to a contract earlier in the week.

Harris, 30, is a former sixth-round pick of the Cowboys back in 2011. He spent four years in Dallas before signing a five-year, $17.5 million contract that included $7.1 million guaranteed with the Giants in 2015.

Harris was set to make base salaries of $3.225 million over the remaining two years of the agreement.

According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Harris will free up $2.45 million of available cap space while creating $1.6 million in dead money.

In 2017, Harris appeared in five games for the Giants and totaled 188 kick return yards and 48 punt return yards, but did not catch a pass. The Giants placed him on injured reserve with a fractured foot in October.
