Giants Released CB Valentino Blake

The New York Giants officially released CB Valentino Blake on Saturday.

The Giants placed Blake on the exempt/left squad on Wednesday, and received a roster exemption for him while he was on the list. However, it appears as though they ultimately elected to move on from him.

Blake, 27, wound up signing on with the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent out of back in 2012. He lasted just over a year in Jacksonville before he was waived at the start of the 2013 season and later claimed by the Steelers.

Pittsburgh brought Blake back on one-year deals for the 2014 and 2015 seasons before he later departed last March for a one-year, $1.3 million contract with the Titans.

The Giants signed him to a contract this March.

In 2016, Blake appeared in all 16 games for the Titans and recorded 42 tackles, no interceptions and five pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 80 cornerback out of 112 qualifying players.
