Giants Rumors: Michael Boley, Marvin Austin

Michael Boley

Paul Schwartz of the New York Post reports that the New York Giants could consider moving LB Michael Boley from the weak-side linebacker position over to middle linebacker.

New York has been trying to fill the glaring hole in the middle of their defense for the number of seasons but that didn’t prevent them from winning the Super Bowl last year.  When GM Jerry Reese mentions that LB Mark Herzlich and LB Greg Jones are both options for them at middle linebacker.

Boley put together his most productive season last year while recording 93 tackles for the Giants. He appears to be the front-runner for the job as of now but strong camps from either of Jones or Herzlich could influence their decision.

Marvin Austin

Reese also expressed concern regarding DL Marvin Austin.

We’re worried about him a little bit… He hasn’t played in such a long time now.”

Austin wound up missing two years of college because of a suspension and suffered a pectoral muscle last year. He’s definitely a concern at this point and it wouldn’t be surprising to see the team proceed as though he wasn’t available any time soon.
