Giants Sign C Khaled Holmes To Futures Deal

Field Yates of ESPN reports that the Giants have signed former Colts and Bears C Khaled Holmes to a future/reserve contract on Wednesday.

Holmes becomes the 17th player to sign a futures deal with the Giants. The full list includes:

Future/reserve contracts are essentially an opportunity for players compete for a roster spot in offseason workouts and during training camp.

Holmes, 26, was taken in the fourth round of the 2013 NFL draft. He was in the final year of his four-year, $2.58 million rookie contract and set to make a base salary of $675,000 for the 2016 season when the Colts waived him back in May.

The Bears elected to sign him to a contract in August before cutting him loose at the start of the regular season.

In 2015, Holmes appeared in nine games for the Colts and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 46 guard out of 81 qualifying players.
