Giants Sign RB George Winn To Practice Squad, Cut QB Logan Thomas

The New York Giants officially signed RB George Winn to their practice squad on Monday and waived QB Logan Thomas.

The Giants’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. WR Geremy Davis
  2. WR Darius Powe
  3. OL Adam Gettis
  4. DE Stansly Maponga
  5. DE Ishaq Williams
  6. CB Donte Deayon (injured)
  7. OT Laurence Gibson
  8. G Jon Halapio
  9. LB Eric Pinkins
  10. DB Michael Hunter
  11. RB George Winn

Winn, 25, originally signed on with the Texans as an undrafted free agent out of Cincinnati back in 2013. He lasted just a few days with Houston before he was cut and later signed by the Patriots.

Since then, Winn has played for the Raiders, Steelers and Cowboys before the Lions signed him to a contract in July of 2014. The Lions brought him back on a one-year exclusive rights deal before cutting him coming out of the preseason.

Winn has been on and off of the Lions’ practice squad.

Last year, Winn was active for seven games and totaled four rushing attempts for just a single yard and no touchdowns.

Thomas, 25, is a former fourth-round pick of the Cardinals back in 2014. He lasted just over a year in Arizona before he was waived and later claimed by the Dolphins.

Thomas is in the third year his four-year, $2,652,092 rookie contract when the Dolphins waived him back in June and he was later claimed by the Giants.

New York later cut Thomas a few weeks ago before adding him to their practice squad. Since then, he’s been on and off of their practice squad.

In 2014, Thomas appeared in two games for the Cardinals, even though they lost Carson Palmer and Stanton for the season. He threw for 81 yards and a touchdown, but completed just a single pass attempt.
