Giants Sign RB Terrell Watson To Futures Deal

The New York Giants officially signed RB Terrell Watson to a futures contract on Wednesday for the 2018 season.

The Giants have now signed 13 players to futures deals including:

  1. OL Ethan Cooper
  2. WR Amba Etta-Tawo
  3. K Marshall Koehn
  4. DB Jeremiah McKinnon
  5. P Austin Rehkow
  6. DB Tim Scott
  7. WR Canaan Severin
  8. DT Kristjan Sokoli
  9. DE Jordan Williams
  10. LB Thurston Armbrister
  11. OT Laurence Gibson
  12. RB Jalen Simmons
  13. RB Terrell Watson

Futures deals are essentially camp invites that will give players the opportunity to compete for roster spots during offseason workouts and training camp.

Watson, 24, originally signed on with the Bengals as an undrafted free agent out of Azusa Pacific back in 2015. He was unable to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason but was later added to the Bengals’ practice squad at the start of the 2015 season.

Watson had brief stints with the Browns, Broncos and Eagles before the Steelers signed him to a contract last May. Unfortunately, the Steelers later cut him loose in November and he was on and off of their practice squad.

In 2017, Watson appeared in 10 games for the Steelers and rushed for eight yards on five carries (1.6 YPC) and contributed 140 kick return yards.
