Giants Sign TE Scott Simonson, Waive/Injured DB Aaron Davis

The New York Giants announced Tuesday that they’ve signed TE Scott Simonson to a contract and waived rookie DB Aaron Davis with an injury designation.

Should Davis clear waivers tomorrow, he would revert to the Giants’ injured serve list.

Simonson, 26, originally signed on with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent out of Assumption College back in 2014. He was unable to make Oakland’s final 53-man roster coming out of the preseason, but later signed on to the team’s practice squad.

The Raiders elected to place him on waivers the following year and he later caught on with the Panthers. Simonson was on and off of Carolina’s roster over the past few years but the team, unfortunately, declined to tender him a restricted offer this offseason.

In 2016, Simonson appeared in five games for the Panthers but did not record a statistic.
