Giants Sign Three Tryout Players, Cut Three

The New York Giants announced that they’ve signed RB Khalid Abdullah, CB SaQwan Edwards, and S Trey Robinson to contracts on Saturday. These three players tried out for the team during their rookie minicamp.

The Giants also waived CB Nigel Tribune, WR Robert Wheelwright, and RB Daryl Virgies.

Edwards, 25, originally signed on with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent out of New Mexico back in May of 2015. He was, unfortunately, waived coming out of the preseason before later being added to the Raiders practice squad at the start of the 2015 season.

Edwards was waived with an injury designation and spent the entire 2016 season on the Raiders’ injured reserve list. Oakland declined to tender him a contract, making him an unrestricted free agent this past March.

Abdullah wound up going undrafted out of James Madison a few weeks ago before securing this tryout with the Giants.

During his college career, Abdullah rushed for 3,678 yards on 673 carries (5.5 YPC) to go along with 42 receptions for 382 yards receiving and 45 total touchdowns over the course of 48 games.
