Giants Sign Veteran DL Israel Idonije

The New York Giants announced the signing of veteran DL Israel Idonije Tuesday.

Idonije became expendable in Chicago after the team drafted defensive tackles Ego Ferguson and Will Sutton.

New York will have the luxury of moving Idonije around, as he does have experience playing every position along the defensive front, as well as on special teams.

Idonije, 33, signed with the Bears back in March, so he managed to last just three months with his former team. He spent nine seasons with the Bears before signing a one-year contract with the Lions in 2013.

Last year, Idonije was limited to just 347 snaps in 15 games. Unfortunately, his 2013 season ended after he suffered a neck injury and was placed on injured reserve. He recorded just 11 tackles and a half sack for the Lions.
