Update:

The New York Giants officially announced the signing of WR Hakeem Nicks on Tuesday.

This is home,” Nicks said. “You know what they say, ‘Let a dog roam, he’ll find his way home.’ They left the backdoor open for me.”

“I’m happy to be here, happy to be back in the building,” Nicks said. “I feel great, I feel hungry. I’m ready to get on that field and make some plays.”

Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports reports that the Giants are signing WR Hakeem Nicks to a contract on Tuesday and placing WR Victor Cruz on season-ending injured reserve.

Nicks, 27, signed a one-year contract with $100,000 guaranteed with the Titans back in April. However, he was among the team’s final roster cuts this past weekend as they got down to 53 players.

Nicks has already worked out for the Saints, Cowboys, Patriots, Giants, Rams and Ravens since he became available.

In 2014, Nicks appeared in all 16 games while with the Colts, but could only reel in 38 receptions for 405 yards and four touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 105 receiver out of 110 qualifying players.

Cruz, 28, announced yesterday that he’s undergoing surgery on his calf, which will cost him the remainder of the 2015 season.

He is in the third year of his six-year, $45.879 million contract that included $15.625 million guaranteed and a $9.5 million signing bonus. He’ll make base salaries of $6.15 million (2015), $7.9 million (2016), $7.4 million (2017), and $8.4 million (2018) over the remainder of the agreement.

In 2014, Cruz caught 23 passes for 337 yards receiving and a touchdown for the Giants over the course of six games.
