Giants Signing WR Kevin Norwood To Practice Squad

Ian Rapoport reports that the Giants are signing free agent WR Kevin Norwood to their practice squad.

The Giants’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. WR Darius Powe
  2. OL Adam Gettis
  3. DE Stansly Maponga
  4. DE Ishaq Williams
  5. CB Donte Deayon (injured)
  6. OT Laurence Gibson
  7. G Jon Halapio
  8. LB Eric Pinkins
  9. DB Michael Hunter
  10. RB George Winn
  11. WR Kevin Norwood

Rapoport mentions that Norwood was signed as an “insurance policy” for the Giants in case WR Victor Cruz (ankle) is unable to play in Monday night’s game, so there appears to be a chance that Norwood could be called up to the active roster.

Norwood, 27, is a former fourth-round pick of the Seahawks back in 2014. He was traded to the Panthers at the start of last season for a 2017 conditional seventh-round pick after Carolina lost Kelvin Benjamin for the season, due to a torn ACL.

The Panthers placed him on injured reserve coming out of the preseason and eventually waived him. He signed on with the Chargers a few weeks later.

Norwood was in the third year of his four-year, $2,640,108 rookie contract and was set to make base salaries of $600,000, and $690,000 over the final two years of the agreement when he was waived by San Diego last week.

In 2015, Norwood was active for just one game but did not catch a single pass.
