Giants Tried Out TEs Including James Casey

Dan Graziano of ESPN reports that the Giants tried out free agent tight ends including James Casey, Matt LaCosse and Adrien Robinson on Tuesday.

  • New York elected to sign LaCrosse to their practice squad.

It’s worth mentioning that Larry Donnell is hurt, which leaves Will Tye as the only other tight end on the Giants’ roster.

Casey, 31, is a former fifth round pick of the Texans back in 2009. He spent four years in Houston before he signed a three-year contract with the Eagles as an unrestricted free agent in March of 2013.

The Broncos would later sign Casey to a one-year, $1.25 million contract with the Broncos back in April shortly after he was released by the Eagles.

However, Denver elected wound up releasing Casey to make room for DE Derek Wolfe, who was activated from the exempt list.

This season, Casey has been active for three of the team’s four games, but has yet to record a single statistic. Pro Football Focus has him down for playing just 19 snaps this season.
