Giants Waive LB Uani’ Unga With Injury Designation

The New York Giants officially placed LB Uani’ Unga on waivers Tuesday with the injury designation.

If Unga clears waivers on Wednesday, he would revert to the Giants’ injured reserve list.

Unga, 28, wound up signing on with the Giants as an undrafted free agent out of Brigham Young back in 2014. He’s in the second year of his three-year, $1.575 million rookie contract and stands to make a base salary of $525,000 for the 2016 season.

In 2015, Unga appeared in 13 games for the Giants and recorded 59 tackles, two interceptions, two forced fumbles and four passes defended. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 85 linebacker out of 97 qualifying players.
