Giants Waive OL Michael Bowie & Corin Brooks, Sign Four

The New York Giants announced Wednesday that they’ve waived OL Michael Bowie and Corin Brooks and waived WR Darius Powe and Andrew Turzilli with injury designations.

Bowie being waived is the most notable move, given that he was recently allegedly involved in a domestic violence incident.

“We have waived Michael Bowie,” general manager Jerry Reese said. “As we have already stated, we were made aware of this situation on Saturday. The league has started to gather more information. That process will continue. The outcome of that process will determine whether there is another opportunity here for Michael.”

Bowie has been charged with domestic assault and battery, and malicious injury or destruction of property in Oklahoma back on July 31, according to court records obtained by KOTV-6 in Tulsa.

According to the report, Bowie went to his girlfriend’s home and became angry with her because of how she spoke to his mother, prosecutors allege.

Bowie allegedly grabbed her by the throat, threw her to the ground, punched a hole in the wall and broke two televisions.

Bowie, 25, is a former seventh-round pick of the Seahawks out of Northeastern State back in 2013. He spent one year in Seattle before he was waived and later claimed off of waivers by the Browns.

Cleveland placed Bowie on the reserve/retired list back in early August before cutting him loose in September of last year. Bowie signed a future/reserve contract with the Giants this past January.

In 2013, Bowie appeared in nine games and played a total of 539 snaps, grading out as a solid run-blocker.
