Jordan Raanan reports that the Giants are waiving TE Will Tye on Saturday.
Tye, 25, wound up signing on with the Giants as an undrafted free agent out of Stony Brook back in 2015. He was unable to make the team coming out of the preseason but was later signed to the team’s practice squad.
New York elected to bring Tye back last year on an exclusive rights contract and he worked his way into a much larger role in the team’s offense. The Giants brought him back on an exclusive rights contract this offseason.
In 2016, Tye appeared in all 16 games and caught 48 passes for 395 yards receiving and a touchdown. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 61 tight end out of 63 qualifying players.
