Giants Worked Out 7 Players Including OL Orlando Franklin, Hosted OT Cyrus Kouandjio

Field Yates of ESPN reports that the Giants worked out veteran OL Orlando Franklin and brought in free agent offensive tackles Reid Fragel and Cyrus Kouandjio for visits.

  • According to Jordan Raanan, the Giants also worked out OT Nick Becton, G Connor Bozick, OT Laurence Gibson, OT Victor Salako, LB Paul Dawson and DB Darryl Morris.

Franklin, 29, is a former second-round pick of the Broncos. He finished playing out his four-year rookie contract with Denver and signed a five-year, $36.5 million contract that included $20 million guaranteed with the Chargers back in 2015.

Franklin was set to make a base salary of $6 million for the 2017 season when the Chargers designated him as a post June-1 release. The Saints signed him to a contract back in July but released him a week later.

In 2016, Franklin appeared in all 16 games for the Chargers and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 66 guard out of 72 qualifying players.

Kouandjio, 24, is a former second-round pick of the Bills back in 2014. He was in the final year of his four-year, $4.808 million contract that included $2.825 million guaranteed and was set to make a base salary of $1,025,748 for the 2017 season when the Bills waived him a few weeks after this year’s draft.

The Lions signed him to a contract this past July before cutting him loose coming out of the preseason.

In 2016, Kouandjio appeared in 12 games for the Bills.
