Giants Would Reportedly Consider Johnny Manziel At No. 12 Overall

Jordan Raanan of NJ.com, citing a “person with knowledge of the team’s draft philosophy,” reports that the Giants would consider drafting Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel at No. 12 overall.

According to Raanan’s source, the Giants would discuss the idea, despite the fact that they currently have Eli Manning in place as their starter.

Raanan concedes that this could be an attempt by the Giants to drum up potential trade interest in their No. 12 overall pick.

Giants GM Jerry Reese is known to go with the best available player during the draft, so I guess there’s at least a chance that they could take a quarterback like Manziel.

“If there is a quarterback up there when we’re picking at the right time, we won’t be afraid to pick him,” Reese said at this year’s NFL Combine. “I don’t think it’s going to present itself in the first round. But we’re not afraid.

The rumors surrounding Manziel continue to circulate as round one nears, but there’s still no clear idea of where he could end up.
