Giants WR Brandon Marshall Undergoing Season-Ending Surgery

Update:

Giants WR Brandon Marshall announced Monday night that he’s undergoing season-ending surgery tomorrow.

This is the third receiver the Giants lost for the season on Sunday, as they’ve officially placed Odell Beckham Jr and Dwayne Harris on injured reserve today. Beyond that, Sterling Shepard is dealing with an ankle injury of his own.

According to Kimberly Jones, the Giants are bracing for WR Brandon Marshall to miss multiple games with an ankle injury.

The good news for the Giants is that they have a bye week after their next two games, which could give Marshall a shot at returning their Week 9 matchup.

The Giants are reportedly promoting WR Travis Rudolph to their active roster (NFLTR) and re-signing WR Tavarres King (NFLTR).

Marshall, 33, is a former fourth-round pick by the Broncos in the 2009 NFL Draft. After four years in Denver, he was traded to the Dolphins in 2010.

Marshall’s time in Miami was limited to just two season before he was once again traded, this time to the Bears in return for two third-round picks. In total, Marshall spent three seasons with the Bears, but was traded for a third time to the Jets in March of 2015.

Marshall was in the final year of his contract and set to make a $7.5 million base salary for the 2017 season when the Jets released him this offseason. He later signed a two-year, $12 million with the Giants.

In 2017, Marshall has appeared in five games and caught 18 passes for 154 yards receiving and no touchdowns for the Giants.
