Giants WR Victor Cruz & OL Justin Pugh Ruled Out With Injuries

The New York Giants announced that the WR Victor Cruz (ankle) and OL Justin Pugh (knee) are out for the game with injuries.

Cruz was taken to the locker room for X-rays on his ankle and his return is questionable, which implies it could be a structural issue.

Cruz, 29, is in the third year of his five-year, $43,000,000 contract and stands to make a base salary of $2.4 million for the 2016 season. Cruz is owed $6.4 million in 2017 and another $7.4 million in 2018.

Entering today’s game, Cruz had appeared in seven games and caught 24 passes for 331 yards receiving and a touchdown for the Giants. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 94 receiver out of 114 qualifying players.

Pugh, 26, is a former first-round pick of the Giants back in 2013. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $8.346 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $1,157,307 for the 2016 season.

The Giants elected to pick up Pugh’s fifth-year option for the 2017 season that will pay him $8.821 million.

In 2016, Pugh has appeared in seven games and is rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 1 guard out of 76 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding their injuries as the news is available.
