Bills Signing LB Gerald Hodges To One-Year Deal

Update:

Adam Schefter is reporting that the Bills are, in fact, signing LB Gerald Hodges to a one-year deal on Thursday.

—————

On Thursday, Bills HC Sean McDermott told reporters that there’s a “good chance” free agent LB Gerald Hodges will sign with them, per Sal Capaccio.

McDermott added that Hodges is on his way to Buffalo right now.

Hodges has met with a number of teams since free agency opened several months ago including the Bills, Giants, Colts, Patriots, Jaguars, Jets, Seahawks, and Chiefs.

Hodges, 26, is a former fourth-round pick of the Vikings back in 2013. Minnesota elected to trade Hodges to the 49ers in return for a sixth-round pick and C Nick Easton back in 2015.

Hodges played out the final year of his four-year, $2.58 million rookie contract and is now testing the open market for the first time in his career.

In 2016, Hodges appeared in 15 games for the 49ers and recorded 83 tackles, three sacks, two interceptions, a forced fumble, a recovery and two pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 21 linebacker out of 87 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 50 Available Free Agents list.
