Good News For The Packers Regarding TE Jermichael Finley?

It’s been widely assumed that the Green Bay Packers will use their franchise tag on TE Jermichael Finley in the coming but the question has been whether or not he’ll be classified as a tight end or a hybrid tight end because of the amount to time that he lined up as a receiver last year.

Pro Football Weekly reports that sources close the Packers believe that there’s “no way” Finley wins his argument.

If that proves to be the case, it could be a savings of $4 million for the team which is great news for them considering that they’ll still have to address C Scott Wells at some point. It’s hard to say what the Packers long-term plans are for Finley but the tag will at least buy them some time to renegotiate a long-term deal, if they choose to go that route.

We have Finley listed as the #9 best available free agent in out Top 50 Free Agents list.
