Green Bay Was Close To Getting Marshawn Lynch

It’s hard imagine that any team had a worse 24 hour period than the Green Bay Packers just went through. First they lose out to the Seattle Seahawks on the bidding for Marshawn Lynch and then the Minnesota Vikings trade for Randy Moss.

Pete Doughtery of the Green Bay Press-Gazette reports that Green Bay Packers were “in on the bidding” for Lynch but ended up losing out to the Seattle Seahawks. The Bills ultimately decided to trade Lynch for a fourth-round pick in 2011 and a sixth-round pick in 2012 that could become a fifth-round pick depending on his productivity.

The Packers could be more concerned about their defense rather than their running game after the recent injuries to Morgan Burnett and Brandon Chillar. They are also dealing with limited depth on their defensive line. All of the issues could force the Packers to address the defensive holes with the hardest part of their schedule coming up.
