Greg Hardy Willing To Offer The Panthers A Hometown Discount

Panthers DE Greg Hardy and soon-to-be free agent mentioned on Wednesday that he would be willing to offer Carolina a hometown discount this offseason.

“I’ll take some cut for the city. I still want what I deserve or what I feel (is) close to what I deserve,” Hardy said, via the Charlotte Observer. “But I’ll definitely take a small cut for the city.

Hardy, 25, has put together back-to-back strong seasons for the Panthers defense. He has totaled 19 sacks and 110 tackles during this time and is an excellent compliment to Charles Johnson and their young defensive tackles.

Unless the Panthers use their franchise tag on him, which is a possibility, there figures to be a ton of interest in him on the open market. Add in the fact that Drew Rosenhaus is his agent and it appears as though it’s going to take a huge contract to get him locked up long-term, even if he is willing to offer a bit of a discount to Carolina.

We have Hardy listed as the No. 2 player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
