Report: Greg Jennings Dining With The Vikings’ Brass & Jared Allen Tonight

Tom Pelissero reports that the Vikings have HC Leslie Frazier, GM Rick Spielman and DE Jared Allen in attendance for their dinner with WR Greg Jennings.

This looks to be a pretty serious sales pitch by the Vikings.

• Bob McGinn reports that there have been no negotiations between the Vikings and WR Greg Jennings. He adds that Jennings’ reps haven’t given Minnesota any sense of what kind of money he’s currently seeking.
• Tom Pelissero reports that Jennings is on his way to Minnesota with a formal meeting is expected on Friday. Pelissero adds that “Nothing gets done tonight. Not sure if anything will.“
• ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Jennings will visit with the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday.

In recent days, almost all reports have mentioned the Packers as the favorites for Jennings. Some reports even suggested that the Vikings weren’t actively in pursuit of Jennings, but Minnesota may have wanted to wait a bit before getting seriously involved.

The overall majority free agents are being forced to accept less money this year, so it would make sense for Jennings’ asking price to drop as well.

A report from last night mentioned that Jennings may end up signing for $7 million annually.

Update:

Pete Dougherty of the Green Bay Press-Gazette reports that sources have confirmed that the Packers appear to be “strongly in the running” for WR Greg Jennings.

Dougherty’s sources added that the market for Jennings has been soft thus far, but the Vikings and Packers remain the “main players” for Jennings.

Another source added that he expects Jennings to sign for $7 million annually after seeing the deals signed by Wes Welker and Danny Amendola earlier today.

Tom Pelissero reports that the Minnesota Vikings are “NOT” actively pursuing free agent WR Greg Jennings as of now.

Pelissero adds that things can of course change in the near future.

Jason Wilde reports thatthe Packers previously made Jennings a $10 million per year offer.

Rob Demovsky reports that an NFL source has informed him that if free agent WR Greg Jennings isn’t signed by midnight tonight, he could be back in Green Bay.

Alex Marvez reports that the Vikings have expressed interest in Jennings as well, but the Packers still want to keep Jennings.

Minnesota needs to the find a receiver and Jennings would probably make the most sense for them now that Mike Wallace has agreed to sign with the Dolphins.

This appears to be a hot topic in the hours leading up to midnight.
