Greg Jennings Entering His Final Season In Green Bay?

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers was asked about the possibility that this could be Greg Jennings‘ final season with the team. Interestingly enough, Rodgers seemed to be prepared for the team to possibly move on without him.

“I think you have to be realistic about it and think that it might be (our last year together),” Rodgers said, via 540 ESPN Milwaukee. “I have loved my time with Greg, Greg and I are going to be buddies whether he’s here or not.”

Jennings, 29, will be an unrestricted free agent following the season. We have him listed as the No. 3 best available player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.

Packers’ WR Greg Jennings was asked about his future with the team, considering that he is entering the final year of his current. Jennings appears to be well aware of his situation, and the possibility that Green Bay could allow him to walk at the end of the season.

“Whether the contract comes with Green Bay in the near future or (with) one of the other 31 teams, that’s the reality of it,” said Jennings, per Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. “This is my last year with the Packers under contract. That’s my mind-set. I’m not thinking about (the) contract. If it happens, it happens. If it doesn’t, I have to make sure I go out there and do what I’ve been doing for six solid years here to get myself a chance to play somewhere.”

Silverstein adds that Jennings could be looking to match or even surpass Vincent Jackson‘s five-year, $55 million contract that includes $26 million guarantees.

The Packers have a number of key players to address in the coming years. Aaron Rodgers, Clay Mathews and B.J. Raji are all nearing the end of their current deals and the Packers may not have the money to keep the entire group. As of now, the Packers have close to $10 million in available cap space, which really isn’t all that much when you have to address four pro bowlers and the reigning MVP. The franchise tag is a possibility for Jennings, but that would limit their ability to lockup at least two of the at some point in the near future.
