Greg Roman Candidate To Replace Pep Hamilton With Browns

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that former Bills OC Greg Roman is a candidate to replace Browns assistant head coach Pep Hamilton, who accepted the position of assistant head coach/passing-game coordinator at the University of Michigan.

Interestingly enough, Rapoport says that Michigan was also interested in Roman for their passing game coordinator position, but he could now be joining the Browns instead.

Roman previously came up as a potential candidate for the Ravens’ offensive coordinator position, as reports said that Marty Mornhinweg could be replaced. Baltimore ultimately made the decision to retain Mornhinweg as offensive coordinator, despite the team’s offensive struggles in 2016.

Roman, 44, began his NFL coaching career with the Panthers back in 1995 as their offensive line assistant. He had short stints with the Texans and Ravens before later being hired as the 49ers to run their offense in 2011.

Roman spent four years in San Francisco and was later brought in by the Bills as their offensive coordinator in January of last year. Unfortunately, the Bills elected parted ways with Roman just a few weeks into the regular season and promoted Anthony Lynn as his replacement.

We’ll have more regarding the Browns and Roman as the news is available.
