“Growing Optimism” That Robert Quinn & Rams Could Get A Deal Done Before Week 3

Rand Getlin of Yahoo Sports reports that there is “growing optimism” within Robert Quinn’s camp that a long-term deal with the Rams could get done before Week 3.

  • Getlin adds that Quinn is believed to be targeting an extension that would pay him an annual salary of $15 million in the range of four-to-six years.
  • According to Getlin, it remains unclear if Quinn and his reps will be able to secure the $15 million figure he’s reportedly seeking, but sources have told him that they were at least targeting that salary.

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports previously reported that the Rams had exchanged some contract figures Quinn, and La Canfora also mentioned $15 million per year as a target for Quinn.

St. Louis picked up Quinn’s fifth-year option that will run them $6.9 million for the 2015 season. This salary is non-guaranteed, and won’t prevent them from getting a long-term deal worked out in the coming weeks.

Quinn, 24, is coming off of an extremely impressive season in which he totaled 57 tackles, 19 sacks, seven forced fumbles, two recoveries and a defensive touchdown.

Pro Football Focus rated him as the No. 1 defensive end in a 3-4 system by a huge margin.
