Hakeem Nicks Would Like To Re-Sign With The Giants

Giants WR Hakeem Nicks told reporters on Tuesday that he would like to re-sign with the team this offseason.

“We all know this is where I want to be,” Nicks said, per Conor Orr, but added that “I understand the business side.”

Nicks, 25, also mentioned that he “really doesn’t know what to expect” with regards to his future in New York.

The Giants do have some obvious replacements in place already on their roster in Reuben Randle and Jerrel Jernigan. Victor Cruz is locked up long-term, so it appears unlikely that the Giants would be willing to allocate more money to the receiver spot when they have needs elsewhere on their roster.

Nicks should be one of the more interesting free agents to watch this offseason, considering that he is among the best available options at the receiver position. Greg Jennings managed to get a five-year deal worth $45 million with $17.8 million guaranteed from the Vikings, despite dealing with some injuries and being much older than Nicks. With this in mind, Nicks could come close, or perhaps even surpass Jennings contract, but that will obviously depend on the number of suitors.

Nicks has never played a full season for the Giants and did not catch a single touchdown in 2013. Both of these facts could work against him this offseason.

We have Nicks currently listed as the No. 27 player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.

  1. I hope the Giants re-sign their top WR to a long-term contract let him retire as a Giant this is the place he want to be.

    • What a silly notion. Nick’s has had back to back horrible years and you want the Giants to resign him, because this is where he wants to be. ARE YOU SERIOUS??? You must like losing. Let Nick’s and his declining skill set leave. He’s not even the 2nd best receiver on the team anymore.
