Haloti Ngata Visiting With Eagles Thursday, Likely To Sign

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that free agent DT Haloti Ngata is visiting with the Eagles on Thursday and will likely sign a contract with Philadelphia if things go well.

According to Rapoport, Lions are still interested in re-signing Ngata for another year should things not work out with the Eagles.

Reports from Tuesday said that Ngata was signing a one-year contract with the Eagles, so it would be surprising if this deal didn’t get done.

Ngata, 33, is a former first-round pick of the Ravens back in 2006. He spent nine years in Baltimore before he was traded to the Lions in return for a fourth- and fifth-round pick that eventually became Shaq Riddick and Za’Darius Smith.

Ngata played out the final year of a two-year, $12 million contract that included $6 million guaranteed and made a base salary of $5.5 million for the 2017 season.

In 2017, Ngata appeared in five games before landing on the team’s injured reserve and recorded seven tackles, two sacks and a pass defense for the Lions.
