Hines Ward Falling Down The Depth Chart?

Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette mentions that Steelers WR Hines Ward was kept out of the teams three receiver sets in favor of Jerricho Cotchery. The move proved to beneficial as Cotchery wound up catching four passes, one of which was a touchdown.

Ward, on the other hand, finished the game with only one catch and four yards. This was after leaving last weeks game with concussion-like symptoms which may have influenced the teams decision. Ward has clearly been ineffective this season while the rest of the teams receivers seem to be getting better with week.

At this point it wouldn’t be surprising to see him retire at the end of the year. He’s set to make $4 million in 2012 which is really high for a No. 5 wide receiver.
