Adam Schefter and Dianna Russini are reporting that Browns HC Hue Jackson will remain in place as the team’s head coach, despite Cleveland’s recent decision to fire executive VP Sashi Brown on Thursday.

According to ESPN, the expectation is that Jackson will be back as the team’s head coach for the 2018 season. However, whoever the Browns hire as their next GM will have a say in whether Jackson stays or goes.

It was clear that ownership was going to have to determine what direction was best for the franchise long-term and it appears as though Jackson managed to win out over Brown. Even so, he has come under criticism for his handling of the team, particularly the quarterback position in which he was swapping guys in and out earlier in the season before settling on DeShone Kizer as their starter.

Jackson, 52, was hired as the Browns head coach in 2016 after spending a few years as the Bengals’ offensive coordinator. Jackson has led to the Browns to a record of 1-27 (3.6 percent) since taking the job.

We’ll have more regarding Jackson’s future and potential changes for the Browns as the news is available.
