Ike Taylor Plans On Testing The Market?

At the end of last week we posted some comments from Steelers CB Ike Taylor in which he seemed optimistic about returning to Pittsburgh. Here’s Taylor’s comments from last week.

“I’m pretty sure we’re on the same page,” said Taylor. “The ball’s in their court … I’ve been in Pittsburgh longer than any other city since I was born. That’s home to me. Steelers Nation is crazy.”

Taylor most have changed his mind on the topic in the last few days because he said that he plans on testing the free agent during an appearance on Jim Rome is Burning this afternoon.

Jim Rome asked Taylor if he’s willing to take a hometown discount to which he replied “I need that market value.  I work so hard, I’ve been through so much, I feel so unappreciated, feel so underrated at my position, I feel like it’s my time to get my worth, in whatever city that’s in.”

The Steelers drafted two cornerbacks in this years draft (Curtis Brown & Cortez Allen) so there’s no guarantee that that they’ll bring him back. Taylor will be 31 this season and should offer teams a solid veteran presence but some have questioned his overall ability. Taylor’s comments make the chances of him returning seem much lower than previously believed.
