OT Demetrius Bell Unlikely To Sign With Pittsburgh, Eagles Still An Option

Scott Brown of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review writes that the Steelers aren’t in a position to become serious bidders for OT Demetrius Bell.

Pittsburgh has some cap space to work with ($5.8 million according to recent NFL Team Cap Space numbers), but they may need that depending on what happens with WR Mike Wallace who has yet to sign his restricted free agent tender.

Bell will meet with the Eagles at some point today and considering the recent loss of Jason Peters, they would figure to be one of the top suitors for him.

We have him listed as the #11 best available free agent in our Top 50 Free Agents list.

Howard Eskin reports that the Philadelphia Eagles have scheduled a visit with OT Demetrius Bell for this weekend.

This comes after they lost OT Jason Peters for the season after he ruptured his Achilles tendon earlier in the week. Bell has also scheduled a visit with the Steelers and has previously met with the Packers, Cardinals and Redskins in the past few weeks.

  1. Peters is not gone for the year, said 4 weeks immobilizedd and 4-6 month rehab period … puts him coming back in August at the early mark …

    • Peters ruptured his Achilles which will cost him 9-12 months of recovery time following surgery. Mikel LeShoure missed the entire season because of this type of injury so it’s safe to say that Peters will not be available by August. There’s a chance he could be available by January but that’s pretty far off.
