Jadeveon Clowney Hoping The Falcons Trade Up For Him

South Carolina DE Jadeveon Clowney tells ESPN.com that he is hoping that the Atlanta Falcons will trade up for him in the NFL Draft.

“I wish they could trade up for me,” Clowney said, “but I hope I don’t fall to No. 6. I like Atlanta – a lot. They’re pretty good. They’ve got some guys from South Carolina on the team, also. And it’s close to home.”

Clowney also mentioned that he has yet to meet with NFL teams at the Combine because arrived in Indianapolis late last night.

Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff previously said that they will consider the idea of moving up for the right player, and given Dimitroff has made a move up in the past for talented player, it seems like this isn’t all that far fetched of an idea.

The Texans could consider taking Clowney No. 1 overall and pairing him with J.J. Watt, which could end up being an incredible combination for years to come. However, many believe Houston will target a quarterback in the first round, which means the Rams could hold an auction for Clowney at No. 2 overall.

The Falcons are have No. 6 pick, so it seems at least plausible that they could trade up for Clowney given that they could use a solid defensive prospect to build around in the coming years.

We have Clowney going to the Jaguars at No. 3 overall in our most recent 2014 NFL Mock Draft.
