Jaguars “Absolutely” Intend To Keep WR Justin Blackmon Once Reinstated

Jaguars owner Shad Khan touched on a number of subjects during a Friday interview including the possibility of drafting two quarterbacks this year.

Khan also mentioned that they “absolutely” want WR Justin Blackmon to remain with team once eligible for reinstatement from his suspension later this year, per Ryan O’Halloran.

Blackmon’s received an indefinite suspension back in November for what is believed to be a failed drug test. He also served a four-game for substance abuse suspension at the start of the season and wound up playing in only four games for the Jaguars in 2013.

Blackmon’s transgressions also include a DUI arrested in 2010 while he was underage and a blood alcohol level three times the legal limit in the weeks leading up to the NFL draft.

There are some obvious question marks regarding the former first-round pick moving forward, but it appears as though his off-the-field issues haven’t done enough to persuade the team to move on without him.

He clearly has plenty of talent to work with, which was evident from his productive rookie season in the league in which he totaled 64 receptions for 865 yards receiving and five touchdowns.

Without much in terms of adequate replacements currently on their roster, it makes sense that they would give him another shot to get things turned around.
